One of the most eligible bachelors in the music industry is officially taken. DJ LaTimmy aka Timothy Sabutha is now off the market. The Orange Flava Dome resident Deejay proposed to his girlfriend of two years, Kesego Philimon on January 6. Philimon is in her early 20s and hails from Xhosa ward, Mahalapye. The newly engaged My Babe hitmaker confirmed this to Showbiz yesterday. LaTimmy was cagey to field questions about his popular fling with the lady he shared the stage with every Friday in the Botswana Television studio and TV presenter Sadie Dikgaka. He only retorted: “ I want to leave what is in the past in the past, I have moved on.” However Showbiz can confirm that LaTimmy and Dikgaka were an item but broke up late 2015 for unknown reasons. The adorable fellow only wanted to talk about the love of his life. LaTimmy said he knew his fiancée was ready for a commitment because “she is very caring, obedient, has a lovely personality and also supportive of my art. I knew I was ready when all this came into play in my mind”. “It took a while for me to find her ring size, the perfect one. She wanted a specific type of ring but I was being myself when I made the decision. I did not want it to seem like I was trying to hard.” LaTimmy, who has been in the entertainment industry for 13 years, has managed to keep his private life free from scandal. When asked how he managed to do so, he said: “I respect my family name. I do not want it to be dragged through the mud, hence I always remained humble.” He also confirmed that he is back in the studio. He said he is working on yet another hit single set to be released early this year. His main focus for this year will be helping the out-of-school youth to achieve their dreams, musically.

We end this year’s Celeb Edition with non other than DJ LaTimmy. Fresh from his Mzansi performance at Cassper Nyovest’s ‘Fill Up Royal Bafokeng’ event, the veteran Disk Jockey has enjoyed a stellar 2019. You began your career as a back-up DJ in Francistown in 2004. 15 years on and you are firmly established as one of the country’s best. Q. If you could change one thing about your journey, what would it be? There is probably nothing I could change from my past DJ life because it has built a better me that you see today. There is a lot that goes on behind closed doors you know! Q. Why did you decide to stick to ‘Sesobeya’ in your music? I had to be different when I eventually went out as a solo artist. Using my native language has come as an advantage because it makes me unique. I mean look at legends like Oliver Mtukudzi, they stuck to their vernacular and we still danced and sang along to their music, am I right? So why not, I thought to myself. Q. Any new music in the works? I always have music in the works but equally I’m always waiting for the right time to release it to the fans. Music is all about timing! Q. Despite being in the public eye for a large part of your life, you have managed to avoid bad publicity. How do you do it? Staying out of bad publicity for me is not a hustle because of how I was raised. One of my sentimental values in life is ‘thong botho’. One has to give out the respect in order to get it. Q. You have an impressive backing on Facebook, boasting 145, 044 followers. How do you use such platforms to influence the youth? I am very much alive to the social ills that not only affect the youth of Botswana but are closer to home as they also affect my family. As a public figure, I always try by all means to push out positive material, hoping that within the masses someone out there may use the message for change, positive change. Q. Have you ever had a bad run-in with a fan? Wow! I really have to think about this one. (Long pause) No not really – I thank God! Q. What is the one thing you remember about your childhood? Loving Michael Jackson and imitating his dance moves, those were golden for me! Q. How do you balance work with family life? I only go out when I go to work. This helps in spending more time with the family. Q. How would like to be remembered? As an impactful human being in all ways possible. Q. Have you ever considered quitting music? I haven’t considered quitting music but improvising in the later stage with other alternatives businesses. Q. Has your private life ever negatively impacted your professional life? No, not that I can remember. Everything that has happened to me I have been able to handle. Q. And finally, where will Dj LaTimny be this festive season? Mostly on the road, I have gigs all over the country. Q. Five things people don’t know about you? I am a good cook. I don’t drink alcohol nor smoke I love acting I get nervous all the time before a stage performance I only rehearse my DJ sets in my mind.
